Spy Shots: Jaguar XF-R bares more teeth

The Jaguar XF-R has doffed a little more of its mask, and now we can clearly see the copious amounts of black mesh that will fill in the front air dam's side vents, replacing the aluminum strips there now. Otherwise, and as usual, you'll need to know your Jags in order to tell this R apart from its lesser siblings. In addition to the mesh the mesh, the hood vents, rear deck spoiler, and quad pipes are the giveaways.

Otherwise, the car will get 20-inch wheels of a different design than the ones found on the XF Supercharged. And speaking of that other blown cat, the supercharged 5.0-liter lump that will power the XF-R will be up 80 hp up on the "regular" blown XF; in addition to a faster 0-to-60 time, we imagine there'll be increased sound and the fury to go along with it.

Alfa Romeo 149

Look at this amateur video, which gives us a very tiny glimpse of a camouflaged Alfa Romeo 149 test mule. Alfa’s new C-segment proposal will draw heavy inspiration from the marque’s halo model, the stunning 8c Competizione. If italian Fiat seals the proposed deal with Chrysler LLC, Alfa’s VW Golf rival will make its way to the States, however, don’t expect to see it here before 2011. In Europe, the Alfa Romeo 149 should hit dealerships by the end of the year.

Citroen C3 MPV

The new Citroen supermini-MPV is unveiled! (Look at the previous spy shots.) The Citroen C3 MPV is a vital part of the company’s plans because as well as the Note, it will aim to steal sales from the Honda Jazz and Renault Modus, plus the next-generation Opel Meriva.

The C3 MPV is targeting customers who want space and flexibility in a compact, eco-friendly package, but designers will also tempt them with style.

At the front, the bold nose gets intricate headlamps, neat lower spotlights, large air intakes and a big grille, on which the famous double-chevron badge is mounted. Moving back, the curvy A-pillars are similar to those on the C4 Picasso, but are thinner and have more glass for better side vision.

A production-ready version of the C3 MPV will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, with sales starting in early 2009. The range is set to be priced from around $20,000.
